Teeth Cleaning as Reflection
September 6th, 2007
I had my teeth cleaned today. This, in itself is not interesting, but the conversation I had with the hygienist gave me a chance to reflect on what I have in my life, since I tend to only talk to my hygienist every 6 months or so. I’ve gotten engaged, my business is up to 11 people and doing well, my fiancee is working at a great company and just got a promotion. AND I have no cavities at all (though I have a chip on a molar they want to fix), which is apparently impressive for a 27 year old.
Life is good.
H-okay!

Umm, yeah. I’m a bad blogger.
Ok, here’s a rundown of the important things since we got back from Iceland.

Number One I’m totally friggin’ engaged! How’s that for awesome?! It was 456 days since I’d first laid eyes on Karen, and I asked her to marry me in the middle of Harvard Square with a (cherry) Ring Pop. This is it on the right. Sadly, it was not long for this world, and she ate it the next day. But that’s cool, because I bought 3, so we had more when we went to tell our respective parents. Apparently after I asked, Karen had to make sure afterwards that she actually said yes, because the moment was a blur. We’ve tenatively set a date for the 4th for October, 2008. We’ve also tentatively planned for having it up north somewhere where the foliage is at its peak right in time for the ceremony.
Number Two thoughtbot’s moved! We ditched the place on Cambridge St. and now we’re rockin’ the Downtown Crossing. It’s really coo, because now I get to take the T every day and Karen can bike to work. This is good for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that it gets me out and walking more.
Number Three Karen and I are experimenting with Gluten Free baking. Karen’s got this idea for a business, and I happen to think it’s pretty awesome, so I’m helping. We’re doing it all scientifically, so I started recording everything in a notebook. Apparently this is ridiculously cute, because I was getting some squee-age afterwards. :)
Number Four Chad moved! Chad (my partner at thoughtbot) moved down to the Philly area because his wife, Rachel, finished her PhD and got a job down there. They’re blogging the experience of moving which is pretty cool.
Number Five I have no pants on!
